Deep-seated roots brought to life through branding
G&B was named in honor of the people who introduced John and Phillip to their shared love of gathering people together around the table. There's Gates, the nickname for John's dad, who taught him to cook, and Brovi, the last name of Phillip's grandmother. The restaurant is committed to sustainably sourced and creative cuisine without losing the easy-going feel of the family-style restaurants that they grew up with as kids in Chicago.

It's been a fun challenge to build a brand and market a new restaurant that's meant to feel like an institution within an older neighborhood in Madison.
