Meet Design Intern Rachel Plummer
We’re super excited to introduce you to our new design intern, Rachel Plummer! She's bringing a whole lot of creative energy (and very cool hobbies) to the studio, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board.
Before jumping into the world of design full time, Madison native Rachel spent several years in the service industry — mostly at CDW favorite Sardine — while doing freelance design gigs and making art on the side. One of her standout projects? Designing the Bike the Barns poster for Fairshare CSA Coalition back in 2018. From 2017 to 2020, she worked as a full-time artist, selling her work online and at fairs, and doing custom illustrations for folks around Madison.
Rachel earned a BFA in printmaking from UW–Madison and is currently working toward a graphic design degree at Madison College (set to wrap up in 2026). So yeah, she's no stranger to getting her hands messy and making beautiful things.
Outside of design, Rachel's a creative machine. Her current #1 hobby is knitting; a big trip to Iceland inspired her to dive deep into Nordic patterns and knitting Instagram. Rachel is also getting into tattooing (fake skin for now, real arms soon), singing in a community choir and experimenting in the kitchen (fermentation is on the wish list, but she's not trying to accidentally invite any dangerous bacteria).
Another thing to know about Rachel: she's always on the move, be it running, swimming, skiing, rollerblading, kayaking or other endeavors. For a while Rachel was doing a couple of half-marathons each year, but these days, she'll take any excuse to hop in the water. Seriously, she always packs a swimsuit just in case, no matter where she's headed.
Other fun facts: spooky stuff? Yes. Tragic books? Absolutely. A good cheese board? Probably.
We’re so pumped to have Rachel hanging out with us this season and can’t wait for you to see some of the magic she's (already) helping us make.
Which living person do you most admire?
My sister! Not only is she crazy wicked smart, but she’s dedicated herself to Palestine advocacy. Her empathy knows no bounds. She’s also so silly and kind and is my biggest supporter for all of my creative endeavors.
When and where were you happiest?
Anytime I’m in water, preferably a lake somewhere up north, preferably sans brain-eating amoebas.
What is your greatest fear?
Brain-eating amoebas.
